Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy

Find answers to your most frequently asked questions about therapy and how online counseling works.

What is Telemental health?

Telemental health is also referred to as online counseling.  Telemental health allows you to meet with a therapist through an audio and video platform over the internet.  Therefore, telemental health provides an authentic face-to-face connection for counseling sessions.

Why should I choose online counseling?

Online counseling brings convenience and less costs to you!  As such, you don’t have to worry about transportation or excessive time away from work to travel to appointments.  Also, you don’t need additional child-care, so this means less costs to you.  Ultimately, this makes it less burden-some to attend counseling sessions in a more convenient location.  In addition, online counseling is key for rural parts of Minnesota where access to counselors can be very minimal.

Do you accept insurance?

Wellspring Women’s Counseling accepts these insurance plans:

  • Aetna
  • America’s PPO
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • First Health
  • Health Partners
  • Lyra
  • Magellan
  • Modern Health
  • Multi-Plan
  • PreferredOne
  • TRICARE

Please contact your insurance company regarding your coverage for outpatient therapy and any applicable deductible, co-pay, or co-insurance which is due at the time of service.

If you have insurance through another plan, you can access your Out of Network benefits through your insurance plan.  I provide you with a form (called a Superbill), which you can submit to your insurance company to receive reimbursement for our sessions.  Many clients are able to get partial reimbursement (often 50-80% coverage) for the cost of sessions this way. To find out if you have Out of Network benefits available through your insurance, call the phone number on the back of your insurance card and request your Out of Network coverage for individual outpatient therapy appointments.

Can I be seen by Wellspring Women's Counseling if I live outside of Minnesota?

Therapists can only provide counseling services to clients in the state they are licensed in.  Therefore, I am only able to accept clients who live in Minnesota. If you live outside of Minnesota, please visit https://www.samhsa.gov/ to find a therapist in your home area.

How does Telemental health work?

Prior to your therapy session, you will be sent a link for our video session that you can click on when the session is scheduled to start.  In addition, you can use the camera and audio on your computer or mobile device.

Is online counseling as effective as traditional in-office counseling?

Research shows that online counseling provides the same benefit and client outcomes as traditional face-to-face visits.

How will privacy be ensured during online counseling?

Only HIPAA compliant and secure video platforms are used for counseling at Wellspring Women’s Counseling.  As a result, no one else is able to access our sessions. Ensuring your privacy is of utmost importance and this format is safe and secure.

What forms of payment are accepted?

When scheduling your first counseling session, you will be asked to put a credit card on file for easy and convenient payment. Following your session, you will receive detailed receipts for each visit.  Additionally, a HSA card or FSA account can also be used.  For more information, see mental health services

What if I have to cancel an appointment?

Appointments can be rescheduled or cancelled with at least 24 hours’ notice without being charged for the session fee.  Alternatively, if the appointment is cancelled within 24 hours prior to the appointment, you will be charged the session fee.
